Ford Has Axed This Option On the Super Duty
At this time (5/5/2022), Ford has closed the ordering banks for the 2022 model year Super Duty. There is primarily one option that Ford has completely killed from their lineup and that is the 5th wheel prep package. From the factory, the 5th wheel prep package comes with a few things: a brace underneath the bed for structural support and trailer wiring in the bed of the truck. One misconception is that it comes with 5th wheel hitch. It only comes prepared for a hitch.
Why has Ford axed this option? The fifth wheel prep package must be installed outside of the normal assembly line which is slowing the production process.
TCcustoms offers two options for an aftermarket 5th wheel prep package:
B&W Hitches: These are great quality and have a turnover ball so you can hide it when you aren't using it.
Ford OEM: This is always an option if you want the factory prep package but again, supply constraints would cause you to have a very long wait time.
You can't go wrong with either of these options but if we had to choose, we'd go with the B&W Hitch. The hitch is included and they're in stock and ready to ship!
